Career Opportunities
An Inside Wireman, also referred to as a
Journeyman Electrician, primarily performs electrical
construction work in commercial and industrial settings. This is a highly skilled person who completes a five-year
apprenticeship while earning wages by working at a very diversified and respected job. This includes the planning and
installation of complete electrical systems such as power, lighting controls, heating and air conditioning
systems in all types of buildings including hospitals, schools, factories, power plants, and other
structures. An electrician may also be called upon to install, connect and check electrical equipment or
machinery. Inside Wiremen install conduit, electrical wiring, fixtures and electrical apparatus
inside commercial buildings in a multitude of industrial settings. An electrician is not only mechanically
inclined but must be a skilled technician as well.
